Know Us Better

About Our School

Brock Elementary School stands as a testament to the aspirations and commitments of the Pickering Islamic Centre, which has been a cornerstone of the Durham community since its inception in 2008. Through the dedicated efforts of our community, we were proud to open our doors in 2013, providing a comprehensive education that harmonizes Islamic values with the Ontario Academic Curriculum.

We believe in fostering an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates diversity. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to provide a well-rounded education that balances religious teaching with academic excellence. By integrating Quranic lessons and the Arabic language into our curriculum, we aim to instill a deep understanding and appreciation of Islamic values in our students. Additionally, through our Academic, Robotics and Coding Programs, we prepare our students to succeed in a globalized world.

Our Philosophy

Quality education with an Islamic Foundation, this is the moral code we have adopted. We stress the importance of knowledge in its most basic to elaborate forms. Our Philosophy is simple: Knowledge in every form.

Our Vision

We envision a school where every child discovers their love of learning, nurtures their inherent curiosity and builds a foundation for lifelong education. We envision for all our students to become empathetic beings who understand and value their roles in a larger Islamic community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of each student to their fullest potential within an enriched and caring learning community. We aim to promote academic achievement, leadership, and Islamic values.

Principle’s Message

Assalamualikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

A very warm welcome to the 2024/25 academic school year. I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer. The BES team is ready and excited to embark on a memorable journey this year; challenging each one of our students to excel academically. We welcome the changes in the Ontario Language Curriculum which puts the focus back on the core principles of Language; Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Reading.

We strive to work closely on character development with all our students; nurturing and guiding them to understand and practice the values and principles of Islam. We want each of our students to develop a love for Allah and be proud of their identity as a Muslim.

As always, we look forward to working closely with our parents, guardians, and community members to ensure a year full of learning, adventure, and success.

The Prophet SAW said:

“The relationship of the believer with another believer is like (the bricks of) a building, each strengthens the other”

(Al Bukhari and Muslim)

Warm Regards,

Sr. Rabia Ismail
