Brock Elementary School – Primary Grades Curriculum

At our Brock Elementary school, we offer a comprehensive educational experience for students in Grades 1 through 3. Our curriculum seamlessly integrates the Ontario Ministry of Education’s standards with Islamic teachings, providing a well-rounded education that nurtures both academic and spiritual growth.

Core Academic Subjects

Our primary grades curriculum encompasses the following core subjects:

Health and Physical Education

We emphasize physical fitness, healthy living, and teamwork through engaging activities. Students develop social skills in a supportive environment.

The Arts

Students explore visual arts and drama to nurture creativity, imagination, and originality. These engaging activities encourage self-expression and build confidence.

Science

Students explore science through hands-on experiments on organisms, ecosystems, matter, and energy. The curriculum promotes inquiry-based learning and critical thinking.

Social Studies

 Students learn about communities, cultures, geography, and history. The curriculum fosters an understanding of diverse societies and the importance of civic responsibility.​

French

French is introduced in Grade 3 through interactive lessons that make language learning engaging. Students build foundational skills in a fun and immersive environment.

English Language Art

Emphasis is placed on speaking, listening, and comprehension to build vocabulary and communication skills. Students develop language proficiency through interactive and practical activities.

Mathematics

 The math program focuses on number sense, operations, geometry, measurement, and data analysis. Students engage in problem-solving activities that promote logical thinking and numeracy skills.​

Islamic Studies Integration

In addition to the core academic subjects, our curriculum includes comprehensive Islamic studies:

Qur'an Studies

Students engage in memorization (Hifz) and recitation with Tajweed, along with understanding the meanings of selected verses.​

Aqeedah (Islamic Creed)

Students learn about the fundamental beliefs of Islam, including belief in Allah, angels, books, prophets, the Day of Judgment, and predestination.​

Quranic Arabic

Instruction focuses on reading, speaking and listening skills, enabling students to understand and interpret the language of the holy Quran.​

Islamic History and Values

Students learn about the lives of the Prophets, companions, and key events in Islamic history. The curriculum emphasizes Islamic ethics, values, and character development.

Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)

Basic principles of Islamic law are introduced, covering topics such as prayer, fasting, charity, and cleanliness.​

Holistic and Experiential Learning

Our approach to education is holistic, integrating Islamic principles into all aspects of learning. For instance, when studying the water cycle in science, students also learn about the significance of water as a blessing from Allah and the importance of water conservation in Islam.Additionally, we incorporate outdoor learning experiences that connect students with nature, fostering an appreciation for Allah’s creation and promoting environmental stewardship.

All subjects are taught by qualified educators. Our teachers are trained to deliver the Ontario Curriculum while integrating Islamic teachings, ensuring a balanced and comprehensive educational experience.
